ASKED QUESTIONS
-
What is dermal filler?Dermal filler is a soft tissue filler injected into the skin at different depths to help fill in facial wrinkles, provide facial volume, and augment facial features: restoring a smoother appearance. The Dermal fillers I use consist of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found within the skin and cartilage. Dermal fillers are temporary because they are eventually absorbed by the body.
-
Does dermal filler hurt?Prior to commencing treatment a topical anaesthetic is used to help numb the area for comfort. Dermal filler also contains a local anaesthetic, which therefore numbs the area being treated to increase comfort throughout treatment.
-
How long does dermal filler last? This is a very common question asked, and is also the hardest to answer. Each individual will find dermal filler lasts a different amount of time. The length it will last is all dependent on lifestyle factors and your natural metabolism. It is important to be aware that when you first have dermal filler, you will need to attend for a top up within a few months, and after time your body will allow the hyaluronic acid to settle and remain in your body for longer periods, meaning more time in between top ups!
-
When will I see results? The results from dermal filler are almost immediate, so you will leave the clinic with the visible effects of the treatment.
-
Are there any side effects?Roxy will discuss with you how to care for the treated area post treatment. In-depth aftercare can also be found on Pear Aesthetics’ Instagram highlights. Bruising and swelling are two of the most common side effects and will settle within a few days.

How does dermal filler function?Fillers work by attracting moisture from surrounding tissues, helping the skin retain hydration. This process plumps the skin, restoring volume and smoothing out lines.
-
How soon will I notice changes? Results are typically visible immediately but continue to improve over the following weeks as the product settles into the skin.
-
What upkeep is involved with dermal filler?Maintenance and top-up sessions are recommended as necessary to maintain desired results, determined by you and your practitioner, Roxy. If you have travel plans, you can still undergo this treatment but we advise scheduling any treatment at least two weeks prior to travel to allow for potential bruising and swelling to resolve.
