Dermal filler is a soft tissue filler injected into the skin at different depths to help fill in facial wrinkles, provide facial volume, and augment facial features: restoring a smoother appearance. The Dermal fillers I use consist of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found within the skin and cartilage. Dermal fillers are temporary because they are eventually absorbed by the body.

Prior to commencing treatment a topical anaesthetic is used to help numb the area for comfort. Dermal filler also contains a local anaesthetic, which therefore numbs the area being treated to increase comfort throughout treatment.

This is a very common question asked, and is also the hardest to answer. Each individual will find dermal filler lasts a different amount of time. The length it will last is all dependent on lifestyle factors and your natural metabolism. It is important to be aware that when you first have dermal filler, you will need to attend for a top up within a few months, and after time your body will allow the hyaluronic acid to settle and remain in your body for longer periods, meaning more time in between top ups!

The results from dermal filler are almost immediate, so you will leave the clinic with the visible effects of the treatment.

If you have travel plans, you can still undergo this treatment but we advise scheduling any treatment at least two weeks prior to travel to allow for potential bruising and swelling to resolve.

Restylane and Juvederm are both FDA-approved dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid gels. Restylane has a slightly granular texture compared to Juvederm's smooth gel. Restylane typically lasts 6 to 9 months, while Juvederm's effects can last from 9 to 12 months.

Studies suggest that Juvederm and other dermal fillers may stimulate collagen formation, resulting in longer-lasting rejuvenation effects.
