Treatment Aftercare
Thank you for choosing Pearl Aesthetics for your dermal filler treatment. Following the correct aftercare is essential to optimise results, minimise side effects, and reduce the risk of complications.
• Mild swelling, redness, tenderness, bruising or itching at the injection sites is normal and may last up to 7–14 days.
• The treated area may feel firm or uneven initially; this usually settles as the filler integrates.
• Small entry point marks are expected and typically resolve within 24–48 hour
• Do not touch, rub or massage the treated area unless specifically advised.
• Avoid makeup on the treated area for at least 12 hours.
• Avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, sunbeds and extreme heat.
• Do not lie flat for 4 hours following anti-wrinkle treatment.
• Sleep on your back where possible, avoiding pressure on the treated area.
• Apply a cold compress gently (wrapped in a clean cloth) if swelling occurs.
• Avoid facials, skin treatments, dental work, and other aesthetic procedures.
• Avoid excessive sun or cold exposure.
• Continue to avoid pressure or manipulation of the treated area.
• Stay well hydrated.
• Bruising can be minimised by avoiding alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil for 24–48 hours (unless medically prescribed).
• Arnica may help reduce bruising.
• Swelling often peaks at 24–48 hours and gradually subsides.
• Initial results are visible immediately, but final results should be assessed once swelling has fully resolved, usually after 2 weeks.
• A review appointment may be recommended to assess results and determine if any adjustments are required.
Although complications are rare, seek immediate medical advice or contact the clinic (https://www.pearl-aesthetics.co.uk/contact)urgently if you experience:
• Increasing pain, severe or worsening swelling
• Blanching (white or grey patches), dusky or dark discolouration of the skin
• Severe asymmetry or firmness that worsens
• Visual disturbances
• Signs of infection (increasing redness, warmth, pus, a temperature)
These symptoms may indicate a vascular complication and require urgent assessment.
• Dermal fillers are temporary and gradually break down over time.
• Longevity varies depending on product used, treatment area, and individual metabolism.
• Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help prolong results.
